The K.I.D.S. Center is an outpatient treatment facility that offers physical, occupational and speech therapy services; community referral and resource information; parentguardian support group; family support, activities and education; orthopedic clinic; wheelchair and seating assessments; casting and splinting ; therapeutic horseback riding programs; sensory motor gym; pediatric therapy equipment; and a physical fitness gym. We serve clients with Cerebral Palsy as well as all other types of developmental delays and disabilities ages birth to 17 with special emphasis on birth to five population. Clients must obtain a referral and prescription from their physician before assessment and treatment services are scheduled or be eligible for First Steps services (Kentucky's Early Intervention Program). The Center accepts some private insurances, Passport, private pay and we offer a sliding scale to income eligible families

Kentucky's Coordinator has many links to state agencies including Title VCSHCN. The state has: long waiting lists of up to 1,500 for services; problems with health-related services at school; and that families find that home care, therapies, and other related health services are hard to get outside of institutions. While SCHIP allows coverage to 200% of poverty, families cannot afford insurance and don't qualify for Medicaid. Grass-roots advocacy groups work to get the word out about the needs of families, including systems that seem fragmented, are difficult to navigate, or remain under-funded. Our Coordinators met with many state agencies and conducted eight regional trainings for families on health related issues. The Family Voices Newsletter reaches 1,550 members. There is excitement about the possibility of a Kentucky Family to Family Health Information Center if the Family Opportunity Act passes.
