Because there is a lack of organization in the state's Medicaid system, some services are approved quickly, while others are deliberated for long periods of time. So families either pay for services out of pocket, or do not use health services that are important for their children. Obtaining health related services at school is also a major problem, because many schools deny or delay health related services until pressed by parents or advocates. These school-based services include one-to-one aides, feeding tubes, and ventilators. Because no specific case manager is assigned to a child, families encounter many problems getting approval for services. Family Voices has many partners in Montana. For example, Title V is assisting in the development of a Family Voices Chapter, while a program called Community Voice Partners works with businesses, media and other non-profits to promote Family Voices in a simple, free and community-friendly way.
