Coma Injury
A coma is a state of unconsciousness in which the brain is functioning at its lowest stage of alertness. Someone who is in a coma is unconscious and will not respond to voices, other sounds, or any sort of activity occurring in the surrounding environment.
A coma may be caused by a variety of things such as trauma to the head, infection, or a lack of oxygen to the brain.
"The outcome for coma and persistent vegetative state depends on the cause, severity, and site of neurological damage. Individuals may emerge from coma with a combination of physical, intellectual, and psychological difficulties that need special attention. Recovery usually occurs gradually, with some acquiring more and more ability to respond. Some individuals never progress beyond very basic responses, but many recover full awareness. Individuals recovering from coma require close medical supervision."
The lost wages and medical bills that accrue duing the term of a coma can be extremely costly, putting a burden on both the family and the victim. If you or someone you know has been injured by the carless, negligent or reckless acts of another, you may be entitled to monetary compensation.
